UV Printer for Glass: Direct Print or UV-DTF?

Glass can be decorated with a direct UV flatbed or with a UV-DTF transfer. Product shape usually decides the workflow: flat, jig-held pieces favour direct printing, while curved or varied goods often favour transfers.

Use direct UV for controlled placement

Flat glass panels and repeat items in a suitable jig can support precise direct printing. Bottles may require the exact rotary system, safe clearance and a profile for the object's diameter.

Use UV-DTF for mixed curved goods

Transfers avoid loading each shape under the printhead. They are practical for short runs of jars, bottles and glass cans, but the applied design remains a raised surface layer.

Prepare consistently

Remove dust, oil and residue with the approved method, control handling and use only compatible primers or adhesion aids specified for the ink system. Do not assume all coated glass behaves alike.

Test before making durability claims

Run application, scratch, soak, hand-wash, temperature and storage tests on the exact glass and decoration system. Avoid dishwasher, microwave, outdoor or food-contact promises without specific evidence.
